Following the latest interim recommendation from the ADA, the DSDS has updated its current recommendation to the following:
The DSDS strongly recommends that all Delaware dentists limit their practices to urgent/emergency care only until April 30, 2020.
Please refer to the most updated ADA guidelines regarding emergency vs. non-emergency dental care at https://delawarestatedentalsociety.org/what-constitutes-emergency.html.
The main goal of the DSDS over the next few weeks will be focused on preparing for the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. We all want to get back to work as quickly and as safely as we can. With help from the ADA, we want to provide all the necessary resources to ensure that all dentists in Delaware:
- Have access to adequate appropriate PPE for themselves and all of their staff
- Are equipped to utilize appropriate patient screening measures in their offices
- Are able to modify their office spaces to accommodate appropriate mandated social distancing measures
Once we feel that all dental offices can meet these requirements, we will strongly advocate to resume regular routine dental care in Delaware. As part of this process, we are requesting that all DSDS members work together to achieve this goal. We are requesting that you share any information that you may have on obtaining required PPE. Please contact the DSDS office with contact information for the various vendors so we can pass this on to all members. We are in this together!
Sincerely,
Cathy Harris, DMD
DSDS President
