Colleagues/Friends,

This afternoon I received a call from the Chief Operational Officer (COO) for ChristianaCare asking if there was a way to get access to additional personal protective equipment, specifically: 1) gloves, 2) gowns and 3) masks, as supplies at ChristianaCare are projected to run low due to utilization and supply chain challenges. Thus, to protect all of the caregivers and to allow for optimal patient care in all settings (ICU, nursing floors, emergency room, offices, etc.), during this COVID-19 pandemic, I am asking for help. Specifically, I have two requests:

1) Donations - personal protective equipment (masks, gowns, and gloves) – this is the main need; as this pandemic worsens in the weeks to come, PPE will be a critical need for Christiana, which will be at the center of care for New Castle County and the State of Delaware. Christiana will find the means to pick-up any donations and will work with offices for repayment after the pandemic has subsided.

2) Messaging – spread the word statewide; this scenario likely requires an ‘all hands on deck’ mentality, and we will need the help of our Kent and Sussex County colleagues.

The need is real and I appreciate any help that you can provide. This is an opportunity for the dental community to galvanize and be an out-front leader during this crisis.
